Between pride and invitation to explore, the city of Mâcon and with it the entire country officially welcomed the delegations from all over the world. During the morning the guest had the opportunity to walk through their host city while bilingual lectures have taken place in the COM Building (Centre Omnisport Mâcon). The speeches of the representatives who wanted to pay tribute to the delegations and the orchestra of the Opening Ceremony which played the Ode to Joy, the Olympic Hymn and the French anthem (la Marseillaise) officialized the start of this Olympic week. The youths seemed to understand it because they end their day in the gym which had been designed as a nightclub specially for the occasion. We hope they won’t give everything on the dancefloor because the party won’t end before a week.

Question of the day: What do you think about French people?

Japanese delegation: "Yes, and I find the French people very sociable and kind. French is a very beautiful language and French are very beautiful as well."
Spanish delegation: "No and the French of the Forum are very nice and always ready to help. "
Congolese delegation: "No, but I think that the French people are smoking too much. Even if they are cool, I do not like their music, especially rap. "
Austrian delegation: "Yes, this is my first time in France, and I find the French people very kind and very committed."
Slovak delegation: "Yes, and I find them nice."
Greek delegation: "No. People are nice whether on the Forum or in the city. The French language is very beautiful."

Comment

The participants had the opportunity to take part in lectures by the Dr. Stephan WASSONG (President of the CIPC) in English and by the Dr. Ines NIKOLAUS (Vice-President of the CIPC and delegate to the international Network of the Coubertin Schools) in French.

Other highlight: planting of a Ginkgo biloba in front of the COM building.

 

Dimanche

C’est dans un étonnant cocktail de fierté et d’invitation à la découverte que la ville de Mâcon et avec elle, toute la France, ont officiellement souhaité la bienvenue aux délégations du monde entier. La matinée a été l’occasion pour les invités d’arpenter leur ville d’accueil, tandis que des lectures bilingues se sont tenues au COM. Le coup de sifflet de cette semaine olympique a retenti tant dans le discours des officiels qui ont tous tenus à saluer les délégations, que dans l’orchestre présent lors de la cérémonie, qui a joué l’Ode à la joie, l’hymne olympique et la Marseillaise. Il semblerait que la semaine olympique soit désormais totalement lancée ; en tout cas, les jeunes semblent l’avoir compris puisqu’ils terminent la soirée dans le gymnase aménagé pour l’occasion comme une discothèque. Espérons qu’ils ne donneront pas tout sur la piste de dance, car la fête ne finira pas avant une semaine.

Question du jour: S’agit-il de votre premier séjour en France? Que pensez-vous des Français?

Délégation japonaise : « Oui et je trouve les Français très sociables et gentils. Le français est une très belle langue et je trouve les français très beaux. »
Délégation espagnole : « Non et les Français du Forum sont très sympa et toujours prêts à aider. »
Délégation congolaise : « Non mais je trouve que les Français fument trop. Même s’ils sont cool, je n’aime pas leur musique, en particulier le rap. »
Délégation autrichienne : « Oui, c’est ma première fois en France, et je trouve les Français très gentils et très engagés. »
Délégation slovaque : « Oui et je les trouve sympa. »
Délégation grecque : « Non. Les gens sont gentils que ce soit sur le Forum ou dans la ville. La langue française est très jolie. »

Commentaire

Les participants ont pu prendre part à des lectures du Dr. Stephan WASSONG (Président du CIPC) en anglais et du Dr. Ines NIKOLAUS (Vice-Présidente du CIPC et déléguée pour le Réseau international des Écoles Pierre de Coubertin) en français.

Autre événement phare : plantation d’un Ginkgo biloba devant le bâtiment du COM.
